The people of Uganda speak over 30 different languages, and English is the official language broadly used in Uganda. Even although only a relatively small percentage of the population speaks it, it is taught in school, used in courts of law, news papers and some radios broadcasts. Swahili is also the second widely used language especially among the business community, army and police. Luganda is also extensively used in the central alongside other indigenous languages.
Runyakitara is commonly used in the western part of Uganda while the north is dominated by the Nilotics and the Nilo hermits.
